  • Hawks finish with best record in...

    The Hawks varsity basketball team finished the regular season with their best record in over 30 years.

    The Hawks beat the Warren Central Dragons 59-57 on Friday, February 16 and another exciting 82-62 win against their rival the Elizabethtown Panthers on Tuesday, February 13. The Hawks finished the regular season with a 25-2 record, which was the Hawks best regular season record since the 1983-1984 season when the Hawks won 23 games.

  • Five Hawks sign to play college...

    History was made last week as five Hawks signed to play college football next year.

    The five seniors signed with their respective college teams during a ceremony at LaRue County High School on Wednesday, February 7. The signings broke school history as it was the most Hawks in a graduating class to sign to play college football.

    Jaxon Boley signed to play football for the Wyoming Cowboys in Laramie, Wyoming. The Cowboys are a division one football school in the Mountain West conference.

  • Lady Hawks beat Taylor County 59...

    The Lady Hawks varsity basketball team picked up a much needed win during their homecoming on Friday, February 9 as they beat the Taylor County Lady Cardinals 59-47.

    The Lady Hawks came out in control of that game at the beginning as they led 14-8 at the end of the first quarter and 31-15 at halftime.

    The Lady Cardinals managed to cut the lead to 42-28, but their attempted comeback fell short as the Lady Hawks won by 12.

  • Mat Hawks win region championship

    The LaRue County Mat Hawks did what they were supposed to do on Saturday, February 10 at Owensboro High School: win the Region 2 Wrestling Tournament. The Hawks advanced six in the finals and won four championship matches, and proceeded to run away from the competition, accumulating 214.5 points.

    It was back-to-back championships for Head Coach Eric Burrell, and the Hawks sixth in the last nine years. In fact, the Hawks have won 15 region championships out of the last 20 seasons.

    Youth baseball and softball signups

    LaRue County Youth baseball and softball signups will be held on February 17 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School cafeteria. The ages are 3-15 for youth baseball and ages of 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U for youth softball. Baseball prices are as followed: T-ball (3-4 yrs) $50, Peanut (5-6 yrs) $70, Rookie (7-8 yrs) $70, Minor (9-10 yrs) $70, Major (11-12 yrs) $70 and Babe Ruth (13-15 yrs) $75.     On Monday, February 5, the Lady Hawks entertained the Lady Waves of Stuart Pepper Middle as the Hawks looked to build on their impressive season opening wins.

  • Hawks win two more

    The Hawks continue to make their regular season even more spectacular as they picked up two more wins this past week.

    The Hawks made their homecoming sweet with a 63-42 win over the Taylor County Cardinals.

    The Hawks struggled at the beginning of the game as the Cardinals took a 7-2 lead, but the Hawks went on a 6-0 run to end the first quarter with an 8-7 lead.

    The Hawks started playing better in the second quarter as they outscored the Cardinals 19-11 to take a 27-18 lead into halftime.
