    The Hawks won another important district game last Friday as they obliterated the Adair County Indians 43-7.

  • LCHS volleyball finishes 4-2 in...

    The Lady Hawks volleyball team are picking up steam toward the end of the season as they finished 4-2 in the Metcalfe County Slam Jam Tournament on Saturday, September 22. The Lady Hawks are now 13-13 on the season and 3-1 in the district. Their next match is away this Thursday, September 27 against Green County at 7 p.m. Macie Sandidge, Bailey Rogers, Lauren Pollard and Bella Venegas won player of the match honors at the tournament.

  • LCMS girls basketball begins...

    As week six of the LCMS Girls’ basketball season tipped off last week the Lady Hawks hit the road for a conference showdown on Monday, September 17 taking on the Lady Bulldogs of Bluegrass Middle School.

    The 7th grade Lady Hawks came into the contest with a recent win over North Middle, but the Lady Hawk’s offense on this night was slow to get started. After two periods of play the Lady Hawks found themselves down by a score of 17-3 at halftime.

  • Benefiting from competition

    I ran across a quote that reads “Competition is a good thing; it forces us to do our best.” When it comes to competing, Chase and Carson Childress consider it a common practice within their household.

    “Well, they certainly get it honest, that’s for sure,” said Wendy Childress, mother of the two boys and wife of LCHS Head Boys Basketball Coach Paul Childress. “They can turn anything into a competition.” Both boys started playing golf at an early age as they would continuously follow their dad around on the course.

    The Lady Hawks volleyball team are now 8-9 on the season after going 4-1 in the Abraham Slam Jam tournament on Saturday, September 15. Their next match is this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. when they take on Caverna at home.

  • Run Hawks run

    The LaRue County Elementary cross country teams had a lot of of success last weekend.  During the Green County Cow Days race on September 13, both the girls and boys team placed 1st. 

    The following individuals also placed: Maxie Blakey, 4th place; Chloe Fortner, 6th place; Kinlee McDowell, 7th place; Morgan Skaggs, 10th place; Ryan Edwards 3rd place and Garren Hayes 5th place.

  • LCMS Girls’ basketball continues...

    As the fifth week of the LCMS Girls’ basketball season began the Lady Hawks hosted the Lady Trojans from JT Alton Middle School on Monday, September 10.

    The 7th grade Lady Hawks began the evening of basketball falling behind by a score of 6-3 at the end of the first quarter. By half-time the Lady Trojans extended their lead to 9-4 in a low-scoring game. In the third quarter the Lady Hawks had their best offensive quarter as they scored six points in the quarter, but the Lady Trojans continued to pull away with a 17-10 lead after three quarters of play.

  • Hawks win, up next Adair

    The Hawks varsity football team found their rhythm once again as they beat the Hart County Raiders 45-18 during their Homecoming game last Friday.

    The Hawks went to their basics as a running team as they picked up 363 yards rushing in the game and had 58 yards passing for 421 total yards on offense. The Hawks defense was also solid as they held the Raiders to only 169 total yards with 119 yards rushing and 50 yards passing.
