    When the Hawks and Panthers took the field last Friday night at Hawk Field, both teams were anticipating a late season surge to prepare for the post-season. Both teams had identical records at 4-3 and this contest between two local rivals would prove pivotal in deciding a district title.

  • Lady Hawks volleyball finish...

    The Lady Hawks volleyball team went into the 18th District Tournament last week hoping to come away with their second straight district championship, but they fell short in the championship game on Tuesday, October 9 as they lost to Green County 3-1 (27-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19)

    Senior Guin Mont-Eton, juniors Kirsten Harper, Kenzie Hornback, Kylee Nunn and sophomore Lili Knickenberg each scored twice as the LaRue County Lady Hawks rolled to a 9-1 win over Taylor County to win the Girls’ 18th District Soccer Tournament championship for the second straight year on Wednesday, October 10 in Campbellsville.

    It was a dominating showing by the Lady Hawks (8-7-2), who scored three goals in the first eight minutes and led 4-0 at the half.

    If you have followed the Hawks Football team this season you may have realized that any and all offensive plays start with Chase (center) and Connor (quarterback) Baker. “Needless to say there is a trust factor there at those two positions between each other that you don’t often, if ever see,” says Head Coach Josh Jaggers. “It’s a first for me and will likely be a last.”

  • Railsplitter Run Winners

    LaRue County’s Cross Country team was well represented in the Lincoln Days 5K and 10K Railsplitter Run. The Overall 10K winner was Gabe Fortier, with a time of 41:28. In the 5K, Assistant Coach Matt Fortier placed 5th overall and 1st in his age group, with a time of 21:17. Chase Hines was the overall 5K winner with a time of 17:33.

    The LaRue County Hawks football team hopes to get back on track this Friday night as they take on a local rival, the Panthers from Elizabethtown High School. The Hawks (4-3) are coming off a heart-breaking loss to Lincoln County before their bye week, but the Hawks have won two out of their last three contests as they head into the final three games of the regular season. The Panthers also (4-3) started the season (0-3), but they have won four games in a row, defeating Adair County last Friday night by a score of 56-14.

    As the Lincoln County Patriots strolled into Hawk Field last Friday night both teams seemed to be clicking on all cylinders. The Patriots dropped their first game of the year, but as they made the trip to Hawk Field this past Friday night they were riding a four game winning streak. As for the Hawks, the past two Friday nights had resulted in big wins against Adair County as well as Hart County. So, as expected, this game would prove to be a highly competitive contest between two teams trying to keep their winning streaks rolling and it didn’t disappoint.
