  • Band of Hawks season cut short...

    The LaRue County Band of Hawks competed over the weekend in KMEA State Marching Band Championships at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in Louisville.

    LaRue County missed its final in Class 3-A finals by seven-tenths of a point, but Director Jamie Smith said the students turned in their best performance of the year.

    “Even though we’re disappointed, we’re proud of our performance,” Smith said.

    “The final score just didn’t shake out,” he added.

  • FOOTBALL: Hawks fall to...

    The LaRue County Hawks lost its ninth game this season Friday to the Louisville Central Yellowjackets.

    Three of the Hawks’ four turnovers came in its own territory, allowing the Yellowjackets to take advantage of short field positions enroute to a 34-0 win in both teams’ final Class 3-A, District 3 game of the year.

    LaRue hadn’t fumbled the ball aways its previous three games before losing two fumbles Friday. The Hawks were intercepted twice.

    The Hawks had 91 yards on 43 plays. Central racked up 304 yards on 48 plays.

  • CROSS COUNTRY: Sandidge wins Mid...

     Adam Sandidge, for the second year, won the Mid-Kentucky Athletic Conference meet at the Bluegrass Entertainment Center (formerly Hillbilly Heaven) in Bardstown.

    Last year, Sandidge had a time of 16:56.25.

    At the Oct. 22 event, he shaved several seconds off his time (16:21.08) in the 5,000-meter run.

    Eighty runners from eight teams competed in the event.

    Teamwise, LaRue County’s boys placed fifth.

    For the girls, LaRue’s Kristina Durbin placed 14th with a time of 21:36.51.

  • VOLLEYBALL: Ladies fall in...

    Green County’s reign over the 18th District continued Tuesday night.

    The top-seeded Lady Dragons won their 11th straight 18th District Volleyball Tournament title with a 25-19, 25-13, 25-12 win over the second-seeded LaRue County Lady Hawks.

    Green County (31-6) has won the district every year since 2003 and improved to 3-0 against LaRue County (23-9) this season.

  • Former Hawks play for LWC

     Three former LaRue County Hawks are playing this fall for Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia.

    They are: Gabe Shirley, a freshman defensive back; Matthew Hornback, a freshman linebacker; and Austin Shirley, a junior linebacker

    Dakota Berger, a freshman defensive lineman, is a Hart County High School graduate from Magnolia.
