  • Stretch of horrid weather time...

     With much of Kentucky covered in a sundae made of snow topped with a crust of ice, fishing season seems millennia away.

    The sun gets higher in the southern sky with each passing day; it is only a matter of time before this horrible weather pattern breaks. Use this dark and cold time to prepare for the inevitable coming of the spring fishing season.

    Get your gear organized. While we change lures or rigs in haste while fishing, most of us just shove things such as bags of soft plastic lures, jigs or leaders into the first pocket in our tackle bag we find.

     Lady Hawks vs. Caverna game has been canceled for tonight due to weather. 

  • Ivy Brown a finalist for Miss...

    LaRue County senior guard Ivy Brown, a Western Kentucky signee, was named Wednesday as a finalist for the 2014 Kentucky Miss Basketball award.
    The other finalists for this year’s award are Anderson County’s MacKenzie Cann and Eriel McKee, Newport Central Catholic’s Nicole Kiernan, Perry County Central’s Kayla Rankin, Ballard’s Javonna Layfield and Sacred Heart’s Daijia Ruffin.
    The Mr. and Miss Basketball awards will be announced March 18 before the start of boys’ state tournament.

  • Basketball court dedicated to...

    Cortland ‘Corky’ Cox was honored Friday by faculty and fans at the dedication of the high school basketball gym in his name.
    Cox coached the Hawks for 13 years, leading them to three state tournament appearances. His teams sported a 247-133 record.
    Before coming to LaRue County, the West Point native and Valley High School graduate was a star basketball guard and standout shortstop at the University of Louisville.
