  • Hawks take second at Trojan...

    The boys’ soccer team captured their third district win last week with a 7-0 shutout win over visiting Hart County.

    Senior Miguel Martinez got things going quickly with a chip shot over the keeper to take a 1-0 lead. Martinez connected 12 minutes later on a rebound from a Hawk shot attempt.

    With nine minutes left in the half, Michael Obsitnik, a junior foreign exchange student from Slovakia, made his presence known with a goal to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead going into the half.

  • Hawks fall to Taylor in shootout

    Each week football teams have the opportunity to game plan for their opponents. Heading into Friday’s game at Taylor County High School, the Hawks felt they were walking into the unknown.

    Just three weeks into the season, the Taylor County football team underwent a coaching change. Out was Eric Graves, and in was Dudley Hilton who is the third winningest football coach in Kentucky with 335 wins. Hilton has accumulated three state championships with as many schools during his 30-year coaching career.

  • Volleyball: LaRue sweeps Caverna

    Junior setter Keeahna Bowen had 10 aces to lead the LaRue County Lady Hawks to a sweep of visiting 18th District rival Caverna, 25-9, 25-7, 25-5 on Thursday.

    Bowen also had 28 assists, two digs and one kill, while senior middle hitter Alyson Yingling had 13 kills, three digs, two aces and one block.

    Junior outside hitter Tessa Yingling chipped in with 10 kills, six aces, two blocks and one dig, and junior middle hitter Chloe Owen added five kills and three aces.

    UP NEXT: LaRue County hosts Hart County at 8 p.m. Monday.

  • Boys Soccer: Hawks beat Grayson

      LARUE COUNTY 1, GRAYSON COUNTY 0. Sophomore midfielder Dalton Fay scored on a direct free kick with 15 mintues left to play, helping the Hawks (7-6-1) avenge a loss to Grayson County (9-6) on Saturday.

    Fay scored after the Cougars, who beat LaRue County in the championship of the Barren County Trojan Classic, were called for a handball.

    UP NEXT: LaRue County plays at Campbellsville at 6 p.m. Thursday.

    Hattie Ward scores the only goal with an assist by Gillian Nunn:

    The visiting Meade County Lady Waves and LaRue County Lady Hawks battled to a 1-1 tie Monday evening.

    The Lady Hawks (8-1-1) struck first when sophomore midfielder Nichole Thomas scored to give LaRue County a 1-0 halftime lead.

    The Lady Waves (4-3-1) got the equalizer when senior midfielder Micaela Ray scored off a feed from senior midfielder Katelyn Cucino with 22 minutes left in the match.
