  • Lady Hawks’ soccer motivated for a better season

    Give Becky Hawkins this – the LaRue County Lady Hawks’ coach is honest almost to a fault.
    The Lady Hawks went 6-7-4 last season, getting outscored 54-26 and going winless (0-6-2) against 9th District teams.
    “Last year our main goal was not to get mercy ruled. That’s how low of a skill level we had,” Hawkins said. “Now our goal is to play a good game and work hard as best we can. Hopefully that hard work will pay off.”

  • Lady Hawks defeat Caverna, prepare for ‘Volley for the Cure’ fundraiser

    Sophomores Ivy Brown and Allison Evans combined for 18 kills to lead the homestanding LaRue County Lady Hawks to a 25-15, 26-24 win over 18th District rival Caverna Aug. 11.
    Brown had 10 kills and one ace, while Evans had eight kills and two blocks for the Lady Hawks (2-0 overall, 1-0 district).
    Junior Lauren Meredith added 11 assists. Junior Miranda Hornback had two kills and one ace.
    Coach Ben Schell said it’s “always good to pick up a district win early in the season.”

  • Golf team shows steady progress

    The LaRue County golf team has competed in four meets this fall and despite some “pretty common errors” in the first tournament, is showing progress, according to Coach Justin Craft.
    “Many kids lack consistency early in the season, and that’s an area we will look to improve upon as the season progresses,” Craft said.

  • Lady Hawks return one starter for fall

    For the past three years, LaRue County has been a force to be reckoned with on the 5th Region volleyball scene. Since coach Ben Schell took over in the 2008 season, the Lady Hawks have averaged more than 23 overall wins and more than 17 region victories per season, appearing in the region tournament every year.

  • Lady Hawks attend soccer camp

    The Lady Hawks Soccer team recently attended camp hosted by Cambellsville University’s women’s soccer coach, Thom Jones.
    The Lady Hawks  worked exceptionally hard and are already making big changes on the field.
    Coach Jones’ wealth of knowledge has not only inspired this team, according to Lady Hawk Coach Becky Hawkins, but also changed the way they think about how the game of soccer is played.

  • Hawks soccer team prepares for new season of success

    For LaRue County High School boys’ soccer, success can be found on the scoreboard, on the field and in the classroom. It is the result of skills, heart and determination.
    Many athletes have contributed to the teams’ success: The Dylans, Andrews, Brents and Bo. The Logans, Todds, Justins, and Damons laid down the foundations of success and Hawk pride. The list of contributors stretches a long way.
