Sue Curle French, a LaRue County High School graduate, was sworn in to the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Court of Appeals of Georgia and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia on Thursday, May 24. Her reply was: “To God be the glory!” I wish Howard and Margaret Curle were alive to witness this. Who would have thought? A little poor black girl from Hodgenville, Kentucky would receive and achieve such an honor.

    Thought for the week:

Be the reminder, the inspiration, the encouragement, the responsibility and the spark of positivity, because how you treat people matters.

Double snap, it is early deadline. This will be sweet and short for sure.

Across the Bluegrass, Kentuckians await the arrival of Memorial Day weekend. As family and friends gather, it is imperative to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice protecting our country. The brave men and women who fought and died, defending the freedom we covet as Americans, deserve our respect and gratitude. Collectively, I ask that we pay tribute and celebrate the true meaning of the upcoming holiday.

    Thought for the week:

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter the words but to live by them.

Thought for the week: God doesn’t require us to succeed, he only requires that you try.

I have been having a great birthday month so far. It started on May 2 as I spent the day at Churchill Downs with family and friends. On May 10, I had lunch at O’Charley’s with a friend, then throw in Mother’s Day, before my birthday, as we went to Hodgenville Grill for our annual lunch. Then I went to Cheddar’s for supper with my son Joe, Tempest and Ms. Leah. Then I ended the day by watching my all time favorite movie, Sweet Home Alabama.

Thought for Today: When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know. But if you listen, you may learn something new.
