  • Caswell retires from Life Connection

After 31 years in education, Life Connection principal Cindy Jackson Caswell is retiring from the same school system—LaRue County--that granted her a high school diploma in the LCHS Class of 1981.

“My mother (Sondra Jackson, a retired LaRue County Schools’ home economics teacher and administrator) was a teacher, so I kind of ‘grew up’ in LaRue County High School,” Caswell acknowledged. “I loved seeing how Mom loved what she did, and thought that I would enjoy teaching as well.”

  • Life Connection’s New Principal

D.W. Cruse was recently announced as LaRue County’s Life Connection’s principal for the upcoming 2018’s school year.

  • Free Summer Meals

Not only are free lunches being provided for people 18 and under in LaRue County this summer, but they will also be available at six locations along a mobile route, according to Stephanie Utley, LaRue County Schools’ nutrition coordinator.

  • Hep A: Know the facts

Hepatitis A is sweeping the nation or at least Kentucky. Hepatitis A has affected more than 440 people, 4 of which have died, across Kentucky since the outbreak was first announced in November of 2017. The vast majority of these cases are in Jefferson County; however there have been documented cases in other Kentucky counties.

  • Welcome to the Promise Land

Kentucky is the perfect state for several crops: corn, tobacco, and one crop that has been growing exponentially recently, is blueberries. It’s estimated that the projected net income is approximately $37,500 per an acre after about five to eight years of harvesting mature blueberry plants.

Tonia and Randy Schmidt and their family were at the LaRue County Public Library to offer a class on harvesting and maintaining healthy blueberry plants on June 16. The Schmidts own and operate Promise Land Blueberries in Hodgenville.

  • Why GLOW?

Christ is the light of the world. As a result, believers have received the light and hold the responsibility to illuminate the darkened world with the message of Jesus Christ. Christ commanded the church to shine brightly for Him and to make Him known. As a result, as we see the darkness around us in the world, it is imperative that we GLOW brightly for the Lord. Do you know what it means to GLOW for Christ?

  • Lord, Make My Home Thine

A young Christian couple had a motto over the entrance to their home reading “Lord, make my house thine until thine shall be mine.”  This would be a wonderful prayer for each of us to pray.

The breakdown of the home is the reason for many of the problems we face in society today.  Satan makes the home the object of his attack.  He will and does use anything to disrupt our building a home.

  • Keep On Keeping On

I have been trying to write a column for the newspaper the past couple of weeks and I have simply not been able to do it.

Since my mom passed away in April, everything has been difficult. Trying to focus on my everyday responsibilities, trying to focus at work and pretty much just trying to focus on anything period has all been difficult.

I am no stranger to this as I went through it when my dad died when I was ten years old. The only difference now is I have a lot more responsibilities and school has been replaced with work.
