    The Hawks and Lady Hawks basketball teams put in a lot of time scrimmaging in the gym before the week of Dead Period from June 25 through July 9, which is when no sports practices or events can take place during summer break.

    Clothing Closet

    South Fork Baptist Church has a clothing closet that is open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Call 270-325-3626 for more information.

    Food Pantry

    The LaRue County Church of Christ food pantry distributes food on the fourth Wednesday of every month from 6 to 7 p.m. and the fourth Friday of every month from 9 a.m. to noon.

  • The Next Generation

    Ever hear complaining about the youth of today? Ever caught yourself bellyaching about the rapid generational changes? Don’t caught in the trap of moaning and groaning. It doesn’t fix anything and only feeds bitterness. Instead of whining about the next generation, focus on praising and praying.

  • Later than you think

    An elderly farmer and his wife had an old clock that stood in the hall which was out of adjustment and very unreliable.  Sometimes it would strike five times when it should strike one.  Other times it would strike one time when it should have struck five times.  The farmer was awake early one morning and heard the clock strike 16 times.  He nudged his wife and said, “Old lady, wake up, it’s later than it ever has been before.”

    Heading into one’s senior season of high school football is an exciting time for any player, but for Hawks football senior Anthony Adkins, one could say that birds of a feather flock together. Adkins, a LaRue County Hawk has committed to play football for the Louisville Cardinals and Head Coach Bobby Petrino.

    16 Oz package of pasta

    12 Oz sliced bacon, cooked and crumbled

    2 1/2 cups of cherry tomatoes, halved

    6 cups iceberg lettuce


    3/4 cup mayonnaise

    1/2 cup sour cream

    1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar

    1/2 tsp salt

    1/4 tsp pepper

    Cook pasta, rinse with cool water, drain, let cool for 10-20 minutes

    Make Dressing

    Add bacon, tomatoes, half of lettuce to pasta, pour dressing over salad, toss gently to combine. Stir in reminding lettuce.
