  • Lady Hawks beat North Hardin

     Having watched her team blow one big lead, the well-rested Alexis Brewer wasn’t about to let the LaRue County Lady Hawks waste another lead Tuesday night.

    Sitting much of the game because of foul trouble, the junior guard scored the Lady Hawks’ final seven points as they held on for a 70-64 win over the North Hardin Lady Trojans at Ron Bevars Gymnasium.

    Brewer picked up her fourth foul with more than 11 minutes left in the game, causing her to miss the end of the third quarter and the first 3 minutes of the fourth quarter.

  • Kaydence, the director

    Hodgenville Elementary enjoyed a Christmas concert given by the LaRue County High School band on Wednesday. The band performed traditional hymns and carols as well as a piece called “A Cartoon Christmas,” to which the children were invited to sing along.  At the conclusion of the concert, Director Jamie Smith turned his baton over to kindergarten student Kaydence Powell so that she could direct the band in the playing of the LaRue County fight song.

    Members of the LaRue County Leadership class visited The LaRue County Herald News Dec. 12.   • Cecilian Bank makes donation

    Cecilian Bank in Elizabethtown recently conducted a very successful children’s book drive. The books were then donated to LaRue County Schools to be used with the LaRue County Community Early Childhood Council and LaRue County Health Department joint project, “My First Teacher,” to get books and information to parents participating in the WIC program.

    Bonnie Wolford, a Hodgenville resident and independent consultant with Tastefully Simple, Inc., is now a team manager with the national direct seller of delicious, easy-to-prepare foods.

  • LaRue’s unemployment rate increases

    Unemployment rates rose in 96 Kentucky counties between October 2012 and October 2013, while 14 county rates decreased and 10 stayed the same, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.
