  • LCS employees rally for pension, budget

    Employees of LaRue County Schools have planned several activities this week to rally in support of public education with the pending state budget and pension discussions in Frankfort.

  • Six indicted by Grand Jury

    The LaRue County Grand Jury handed down six indictments on Monday, March 19 that mostly consisted of drug charges.

    Rebecca McDaniel, 29, of Sonora was indicted for first degree possession of a controlled substance, failure to maintain the required insurance, failure to notify the transportation department of an address change, failure to produce an insurance card and careless driving. The alleged acts occurred on December 31, 2017 during a traffic stop. Her bail was set at $9,500 cash and she will be arraigned on April 2 in LaRue County Circuit Court.

  • LCMS academic students compete at State Governors Cup

    After winning both District and Regional Quick Recall Championships, the LaRue County Middle School Academic Quick Recall Team competed in the 2018 State Governor’s Cup Competition on Sunday, March 18 at the Galt House in Louisville. 

    Teams from 64 middle schools across the state competed in the tournament. LaRue won their first match against Bell Central from Pineville, KY.  They lost their second match to Green County Middle and then lost in the third round to Bell Central. 

  • Superintendent interviews have begun

    The five LaRue County School Board members are in the interview process of finding the next person to lead LaRue County Schools as current Superintendent Sam Sanders is set to retire in June of this year.

    Sanders has been employed with the LaRue County School system for 31 years and has been the superintendent for the past 16 plus years. Applications for his replacement were accepted starting in January 2018, of which 15 candidates applied for the position.
