  • Local resident earns degree from WGU

    The following local students have received their degree from Western Governors University.

    Frances Mehicic of Hodgenville (42748) has received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

    The university held its 64th commencement ceremony at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando on February 10 to celebrate the graduation of about 15,000 graduates from across the country.

  • EKU’s President’s and Dean's list

    Two LaRue County students made the President’s and the Dean’s List at Eastern Kentucky University for the Fall 2017 semester.

    Joshua Daniel Adams of Hodgenville and Zoie Claire Webb of Buffalo were named to both lists.

    The President’s List was established by the University to recognize outstanding academic achievement. It is bestowed upon full-time undergraduate students who attain a perfect 4.0 grade point average for a semester.

  • Before and after consolidation

    Ten years have passed since Abraham Lincoln Elementary became a school, with the consolidation of Buffalo and Magnolia elementary schools. Several ALES teachers who taught at the former elementary schools have shared their memories of the old and new.

    Kathy Ross remembered ALES’ dedication was supposed to occur when First Lady Laura Bush was scheduled to commemorate Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday on February 12, 2008.

  • 4-H poster contest deadline approaching

    The 4-H poster contest deadline is approaching. Posters must be submitted to the Extension Office by March 16. 4-H is the subject for the poster which can take any approach on any area of 4-H. Members can show what 4-H is, what they do in 4-H, or what 4-H has to offer. The poster may also be promotional to get youth to join 4-H.

    Every poster entry will receive a 4-H ribbon. Grade level winners will be selected for the 4th-8th grades and high school. Grade level winning posters will advance to the District Poster Contest.

  • 4-H Calendar - March 7, 2018

    4-H Summer Camp

    4-H Camp registrations are now being accepted. 4-H Camp will be May 29 – June 1, 2018. Cost is $220 and is open to campers 9 to 14-years-old. The deposit to hold a campers spot is $110 with the balance due by May 1. Teen leader applications are also being accepted, the deadline for teen applications is April 13. For any questions, please call the Extension Office at 270-358-3401.

    The LCHS Academic Team competed at the 5th Region Governor’s Cup competition held at Nelson County High School on February 12 and 17. The KAAC 5th Region is comprised of over 15 Academic Teams from around the area.
