  • Preparing for Spring

    LaRue County High School Ag. Teacher Chris Thomas has his greenhouse technology students already preparing for this spring’s garden plant and flower sales.

    Last week seniors Chloe Price, Cassie Campos, Clay Rogers, and junior Austin Burgess were busy watering and transplanting seedlings in the greenhouse located between the high school and track.

  • Poet Laureate coming to New Haven

    Kentucky Humanities and The Poetry & Literature Center of the Library of Congress will bring newly-appointed United States Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith to New Haven this month as part of Smith’s National Project Rural Tour.

    Smith will visit the New Haven Branch of the Nelson County Public Library from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 17. The public event will be geared toward middle school-aged students and their families about how poetry can help them understand important life concepts.

  • Before and after consolidation part 2

    Most of the former teachers at Buffalo and Magnolia elementary schools who moved to Abraham Lincoln Elementary when the schools consolidated spoke of the small family atmosphere of their former schools.

    Darcy Pruitt, who taught at Buffalo, said, “The teachers knew all the students, the students’ parents and/or grandparents, and the students’ siblings. One teacher could get the opportunity to have every child in a household as his or her student.”

  • LCHS speech and drama to present “Sister Act”

    The LaRue County High School Drama and Chorus clubs will be performing the Sister Act on March 22-25.

    The shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday start at 7 p.m. Tickets for those nights are $15 for adults and $10 for students. The dinner show is Sunday with the dinner at 12:30 p.m. and the show at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for the dinner and the show. All proceeds will go to LCHS Drama and Chorus.

  • LCHS Speech excels at state tourney

    The LCHS competed at the KHSSL State Speech Championships last weekend at the University of Kentucky and returned home with three individual awards, several other honors, and took 12th place overall out of 60 schools competing and was one of 5 schools designated as a School of Excellence in speech.

  • LCMS 2018 MATHCOUNTS team competes

    The 2018 LCMS MATHCOUNTS team placed 3rd in the My Old Kentucky Home Chapter competition held at T.K Stone Middle School on Saturday, February 17th. 

    Neel Patel and Jacob Hinton will progress to the state competition based on their individual scores. 

    Connor Nicholas and Clara Walsh were also among the highest scoring individuals who participated in the Countdown Round.
