  • 4-H Calendar - April 4, 2018

    4-H Summer Camp

    4-H Camp registrations are now being accepted. 4-H Camp will be May 29 – June 1, 2018. Cost is $220 and is open to campers 9 to 14-years-old. The deposit to hold a campers spot is $110 with the balance due by May 1. Teen leader applications are also being accepted, the deadline for teen applications is April 13. For any questions, please call the Extension Office at 270-358-3401.

  • Creating learning moments

    Thanks to a Metro United Way Born Learning Academy grant, LaRue County’s family resource centers are providing parents with tools and resources to turn everyday activities into early learning moments.

    Hodgenville FRC coordinator Melissa Pearman, who wrote the grant, and Machelle Durham, FRC coordinator at Abraham Lincoln Elementary have scheduled six workshops, three during Wee Time, 9 a.m. on March 28 (ALES), April 11 (HES), and April 18 (ALES) and three sessions at 5:30 p.m. on April 16, 23, and 30, all at HES.

  • LCS teachers recognized for ‘Excellence in Teaching’

     Campbellsville University is recognizing three LaRue County Schools teachers with the 2018 Excellence in Teaching Award. Selected by the district, award winners are honored for their leadership and dedication to the teaching profession.

    Award winners Eric Allen, Andy Arendt and Erin Hardwick were also nominees for the WHAS11/LG&E KU ExCEL Award earlier this school year.

    A third-generation teacher, Allen teaches special education at LaRue County High School.

  • LCHS Speech Students Headed to Nationals

    After three intense weekends of competition in March, five LaRue County Speech students are headed to national competition in April, May, and June.

    In early March, schools from across the state competed to join Team Kentucky at the NCFL National Championships, which are held over Memorial Day weekend each year. The next weekend, they competed at the NSDA State Qualifier to determine who will represent Kentucky at the NSDA National Championships, which are held in mid-June.

  • Parents urged to attend kindergarten registration March 22

     Abraham Lincoln Elementary School and Hodgenville Elementary School leaders are emphasizing the importance of attending kindergarten registration on Thursday, March 22.

    “The earlier we meet the parents and guardians of incoming kindergarteners, the better,” said ALES principal Karen Downs. “Registering early really helps the students, families and our schools.”

    The registration events are set from 3:30 to 5:45 p.m. at ALES and 3:30 to 6 p.m. at HES. Children must be 5 years old by August 1 to attend kindergarten.

  • Scholarship calendar - March 21, 2018

    The following scholarships are available to LaRue Co. students:

    Nolin RECC Scholarship

       Nolin Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation, A Touchstone Energy® Cooperative, will award $13,000 in scholarship funds to area students this year. The cooperative provides electricity to approximately 34,000 members in Hardin, LaRue and seven surrounding counties.

  • March personnel changes

    The LaRue County Board of Education reviewed several personnel changes at its March 19 meeting.
