  • Scholarship calendar - January 31, 2018

    The following scholarships are available to LaRue County students:

    Harold and Cynthia Carter Memorial Scholarship $2,000 award for multiple students (renewable): LaRue County High School graduating seniors and alumni that plan to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College are eligible to apply for the Harold and Cynthia Carter Memorial Scholarship. Applicants should have a cumulative 2.0 GPA.

    As school districts throughout Kentucky recognize their boards of education during January, remember these are members of our community who are dedicated to face the challenges facing schools today with the commitment of doing everything they can in the interest of our county’s students.

  • 4-H Calendar - January 31, 2018

     4-H Sewing Classes

    4-H Sewing Classes will begin in February. Beginner’s classes will meet on Mondays beginning on February 5 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Extension Office and Intermediate Sewing will meet on Saturdays beginning February 3 from 9:30 a.m. to Noon. Participants need to pre-register by calling the Extension Office at 270-358-3401.

    4-H Council

    The 4-H Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, February 5 at LaRue County Farm Bureau.

  • 4-H Written Communication Contests

    The 4-H Poetry Contest will be held again this year in conjunction with the 4-H Communications Contest. The contest includes six categories: Songwriting, Poetry, Essay on “What 4-H Means to Me”, Original Monologue, Press Release and Public Service Announcement. Students may enter one item per category. The contest is open to all LaRue County youth, ages 9 to 18.

  • LCMS Academic team wins championship

    The LaRue County Middle School Academic Team won two team championships, including several individual awards, and received the trophy for first place overall in the District Governors Cup competition held at Boston School on Saturday, January 20.

    Middle Schools in LaRue County’s District are Boston, Old Kentucky Home, New Haven and Bardstown’s St. Joseph School. LaRue County’s team is coached by Doris Jean Holleran.

  • Camp Invention returns to LaRue for 10th year

    Wild and crazy ideas become reality in this year’s all-new Camp Invention program, Fast Forward at Abraham Lincoln Elementary the week of July 9-13. A nonprofit program of the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Camp Invention allows children entering kindergarten through completion of fifth grade to experience real-world problem solving, creative thinking, invention, and teamwork- all while having fun.

     4-H Shooting Sports Club

    The 4-H Shooting Sports Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 25 at the Extension Office for gun cleaning and safety.  New members are welcome to attend.

    4-H Teen Club

    The 4-H Teen Club will meet at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 26 at the Extension Office.  The Teen Club is open to 7th-12th graders.

     4-H Sewing Classes

  • Beginner sewing classes start soon

    A series of beginner’s sewing classes are being offered beginning on February 5.  The classes will be offered on Mondays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the LaRue County Extension Office.  The class is open to beginning sewers or those with no sewing experience, ages 9 to 18.
