  • Lauren Heil: ExCEL Award winner

LaRue County Schools 2015 ExCEL Teacher of the Year Lauren Heil knew from the time she was a child that she would become a teacher.

Growing up in Illinois, she propped her dolls and stuffed animals into school desk seats her father had purchased at a garage sale, holding class with her “students.”

She also often visited her Aunt Lori, a school sister of Notre Dame, in Burlington, Indiana, in her fifth-grade classroom.
