• New 4-H Advanced Teen Leadership Academy program

    New for the 2018-2019 4-H program year, an Advanced Teen Leadership Academy is being offered. The original Teen Leadership Academy has been conducted for over ten years. 

    At the graduation ceremony, multiple participants and parents stated that they wished there was an opportunity to do TLA again so they could continue to learn and build their leadership and communication skills.  The 4-H Agents decided to give it a try this year and invite any TLA graduate that is still in high school to participate in an Advanced Teen Leadership Academy.  

  • Sources of Strength tailgate

    Friday at 6 p.m. a LaRue County High School Club, Sources of Strength, is hosting a tailgate party before the Hawks’ first football game of the season at Hodgenville.

    Sources of Strength, in its second year at LCHS, is a mental health awareness program.

    KHIC Wee Time

    Preschool children ages 2-4 and their parents are invited to Wee Time, where preschool children can become familiar with the school they will attend. The first event of the 2018-2019 school year is on August 22, 2018 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School. The color for the event is purple

  • LCS has ten new teachers

    Ten teachers join the LaRue County School District this year. Below are capsule comments on each:

    Abraham Lincoln Elementary

    Valarie Lobb is a special education teacher. Experience: Green County Schools, four years; Metcalfe County Schools, six years; Adair County Schools, four years. Education: West Virginia University, Rank 1 in learning behavior disorders; Campbellsville University, master’s in special education learning behavior disorders; Lindsey Wilson College, bachelor’s in human services/counseling.

  • A Successful Kindergarten Transition

    If you have a child who has just started kindergarten, you may want to look through this list of items and see if there is anything else that you still want or need to do. This is a great time to put practices in place that will help your child have a great first year in school. If there are some things you find that you haven’t done, it’s not too late to begin.

  • Court selected for DYW

    Five high school seniors will participate in the LaRue County Distinguished Young Woman program at the LaRue County High School auditorium on August 18 at 6:30 p.m.

     “The girls have been practicing this summer learning their opening number routine,” said Denise Skaggs, chairperson for LaRue County Distinguished Young Woman.   “They have been working on their talent as well.”

  • Performance based credit offered to LCS students

    Kentucky law (704 KAR 3:303) states that a high school graduation credit may be awarded in either of two ways: Carnegie Units (defined as at least 120 hours of instructional time in one subject) or performance based credits, defined at the local level regardless of the number of instructional hours.

  • LaRue County Schools "back-to-school" information

    Hepatitis vaccine

    There has been a recent change in requirements for immunizations in order to attend school. Effective July 1, 2018 ALL students in kindergarten through twelfth grade must show proof they have received at least one dose of the two dose Hepatitis A vaccine to attend school.

  • Applications now accepted for 4-H Teen Leadership Academy

    The 4-H Teen Leadership Academy will soon start with its eleventh class of participants.  The leadership program is a combined program with teens from LaRue, Hardin, Meade, Breckinridge and Grayson Counties.
