  • Man charged with endangering a minor

    An Upton man was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and alcohol intoxication last week.

    LaRue County Deputy Doug Sherrard responded to a complaint of a domestic disturbance on High Street between James “Jimmy” Haddock, 35, and Rachel Hersker about 7:30 p.m. July 18.

    The couple had gotten into an argument and Hersker left with their youngest child. She told Deputy Sherrard that Haddock would not let the oldest child go with her.

    30 days in jail
    Lewis K. Dailey (1990) was ordered to serve 30 days in jail July 15 in LaRue Circuit Court. Documents indicate he has not made payments to the court since March 13. He was fined $385 in 2010 on a charge of theft by unlawful taking – auto. His case will be reviewed Aug. 19 as to employment and housing.

  • Fiscal Court: Hall hired as 911 coordinator

    LaRue County Fiscal Court appointed Nathan Hall as 911 coordinator as magistrates met at the courthouse in Hodgenville July 23.

    Hall, a LaRue County resident who works part time as an emergency dispatcher in the county, fills a position vacated by the death of Chris Jackson July 22.

  • New Haven man to serve 12 months

    Matthew Cody Losey Jr., 20, of New Haven, was sentenced in Nelson Circuit Court to 12 months in jail for sexual misconduct, three years in prison for second-degree escape and three years in prison for assault under extreme emotional disturbance.

  • New Haven man receives probation

    William Culver, 51, of New Haven, was sentenced July 5 in Nelson Circuit Court to one year in prison for four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

    He was granted probation for a period of five years. On Jan. 25, 2013 Culver was involved in a vehicle collision with a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado on Helsinki Hill in Nelson County. The Silverado, which contained four passengers, went off a 30-foot cliff and into a creek. All passengers in the Silverado refused EMS treatment.

  • E'Town woman sentenced to 60 days

    An Elizabethtown woman was sentenced to 60 days after pleading guilty to charges of wanton endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident.

    Ashley Renee Borden, 25, was charged June 12 with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid (serious injury or death involved), after she rammed another vehicle with her car at the LaRue County Fairgrounds.

  • Two killed in Greensburg murder/suicide

    A domestic dispute near McKinney Corner in Green County turned deadly Friday when a man followed his live-in ex-wife to her sister’s residence and opened fire with a .22-caliber rifle.

    Kentucky State Police TFC Billy Gregory said Barry Moore, 40, followed his ex-wife, Pamela Gayle Jeffries Moore, 43, from the residence they shared at 75 Hwy. 218 just after 10:30 a.m. Friday. At a mobile home in the back yard, Gregory said, Barry Moore shot Pam Moore and two others before turning the gun on himself.

  • New Haven man indicted for attempted murder

    Joseph “Josey” W. Martin, 28, of Bardstown, has been indicted for attempted murder after police say he attempted to run over Charlie Clark with his vehicle May 27.

    New Haven Police Chief Kenny Holbert said Martin drove a mid-sized SUV at Charlie Clark, and Clark ran between a guardrail and a nearby building to miss getting hit near the old Magoo’s Tavern across from the New Haven IGA.

    “There was actually never any contact between the vehicle and (Clark),” Holbert said.

    Final sentencing

    Carol Michelle Taylor (1976) received a five-year diverted sentence July 1 in LaRue Circuit Court on a charge of failure to report change in order to receive benefits.

    According to court records, she must pay $7,827.40. Final sentencing was held.
