  • Richard Jake Highbaugh, 23

     Richard Jake Highbaugh, 23, of Elizabethtown, died July 31, 2012.

    He is survived by his mother, Tracy Tuck Humphrey; his father, Kevin Highbaugh; and one son, Tanner Noe Highbaugh.

     The funeral was Aug. 4 at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Burial was in Brown Family Cemetery.

  • John C. Ferguson, 69

     John C. Ferguson, 69, of Sonora, died Aug. 7, 2012.

    He is survived by his wife, Carol Ferguson; and their three children, Charles Ferguson, Teresa Conder and Glynda Himebaugh.

    The family chose cremation.

    A celebration of life was Aug. 18 at the old Sonora Elementary School in Sonora.

  • Lt. Col. (Ret.) Charles Jerry Self, 64

     Lt. Col. (Ret.) Charles Jerry Self, 64, of Elizabethtown, died Aug. 19, 2012.

    The U.S. Army veteran is survived by his wife, Lois Ann Clontz Self; and three daughters, Natalie Gentry, Andrea Morris and Kelly Morris.

    The funeral is 1 p.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

    Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

    Linda L. Burris Jeffries, 67, of Hodgenville passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at her residence.

  • Diane Gipson, 64

    Diane Gipson, 64, of Linwood, passed away August 15, 2012 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

    Her parents William Herbert and Alma Maeola Knight Close preceded her in death.
    Her husband Charles Gipson survives her.
    Funeral services were held at Saturday August 18, 2012 at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia officiated by Bro. Darrell Hensley and Bro. Dewayne Kidd. Burial followed in the Knoxes Creek Church Cemetery.
    Visitation was Friday and Saturday at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home.

  • Bobby D. Sprowles, 63

    Bobby D. Sprowles, 63, of Hodgenville, passed away Sunday Aug. 19, 2012, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.

    He was a Navy veteran serving during Vietnam, a member of Hodgenville United Methodist Church and a project manager for Harris Corporation at Ft. Knox.

    His brother Dennis Sprowles preceded him in death.

    He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sprowles; two sons, Ryan (Jenna) Sprowles of Memphis, TN and Martin Sprowles of Bloomington, IN; a sister, Jeanette Burress of Somerset and a brother, Donald (Nancy) Sprowles of Buffalo.

    Robert Dennison, 72, of Hodgenville passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at his residence.

    His parents, Owen and Cora Hazalip Dennison, a sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

    James Maynard Pile, 90, of Elizabethtown, passed away, Wednesday August 15, 2012 at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    His parents Dan and Lena Hoskinson Pile preceded him in death.

  • William 'Billy' K. Florence, 76

    William “Billy” K. Florence, 76 of White City, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
    He was a retired diesel mechanic with Greyhound for 42 years. He was fondly known as, ‘Bill the Busman.’ He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and an Army Veteran. He was widely known throughout the community for his annual Fall Halloween Festivals where kids of all ages could fill their buckets with candy and stomachs with chili and potato soup.

  • Barbara Schmidt, 77

     

    Barbara Schmidt, 77, of Elizabethtown, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012 at her home.

    A memorial service will be held Friday afternoon in Michigan.
