  • You are more proud than you realize. I am too. We are more arrogant than we care to admit. We default to being jerky and judgmental with a dangerous frequency. We need to humble ourselves quickly before the Lord humbles us through painful discipline.

Here are four thoughts on why and how we should humble ourselves:

  • What a trial --- the charges were false and the witnesses were paid to lie. Has anyone ever heard of such injustice? Yet, Jesus who could have commanded the armies of heaven to come to His rescue, died willingly. He voluntarily placed Himself in the hands of cruel men who crucified Him.

  • Recently, I heard a story of a church where an individual became a new believer. The excitement of the decision overtook the new follower of Christ and the individual shared Jesus with everyone he came in contact with. After a couple of weeks of this behavior, a Sunday School class discussed the boastful nature of this new believer. During the conversation, an individual who had been a member of the church for many years simply said, “Just give it a few weeks until he gets over his salvation.”

  • Man’s greatest need is not money, power, or fame , but the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is the one friend everybody needs because of our past, our present and our future. In the past we have sinned --- many times and in many ways. Something needs to be done about those sins, but we are helpless and hopeless. The hymn writer says, “There is a fountain filled with blood ... and sinners plunged beneath that flood, and lose all their guilty stains.”

  • Thought for the week: One needs different people in their life. A harbor in which to seek shelter against the storm, or simply to pay a visit because it is such a beautiful day.

Ole man weather can’t make up his mind. I sure wish he would go to sleep and quit having these snow storms. I literally hate snow.

  • Congratulations to the LaRue County boys and girls basketball teams. The girls were runner-up in the 18th District Tournament and the boys were district champs of the 18th district and runner-up in the 5th regional tournament. Also, the boys ended the season with a 29-3 record, the best ever at LaRue County. Hats off to both teams and we are very proud of you.

  • What are you afraid of? Loneliness, failure, financial issues, relationship issues, work issues, health issues, death or suffering? Fear can be overwhelming and paralyzing. It is not a coincidence that our loving God has much to say about fear, frequently commanding His children to “Fear Not!” Easier said than done you might say. Here is what God says.
