  •  Union Christian Church will be holding a series of "Fall Gathering" services September 9th-12th. The services will begin on Sunday morning, September 9th at 11:00 AM and will continue each evening, Sunday through Wednesday, at 7:00 PM. Our messages will be brought by our Elders: Jerry Lawler, Marcus LaFollette, JR Donahue, John Skaggs, and Dee Hutchins. Special music is also planned.   • Bite Size Apple Pies

    1/2 cup sugar

    2 tsp ground cinnamon

    1 package (14.1 Oz) refrigerated pie pastry

    3 tbsp butter, melted, divided

    2 medium tart apples

    Preheat oven to 425 degrees

    In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon, reserve 1 tbsp.

    On a lightly floured surface, unroll pastry sheet, roll and trim each to an 8 inch square.

    Brush with 2 tbsp butter, sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture. Cut each square into 8 1 inch stripes.

  • A popular reality television series will be traveling through Kentucky during the month of October and they are currently looking for places to film.

    Recruiters for the show “American Pickers” are currently looking for places to “pick” throughout Kentucky and possibly in LaRue County. Some of the items they are seeking are vintage bicycles, toys, advertising memorabilia, automotive items and more.

  • A lot of people wouldn’t think that receiving a free flagpole and American flag was a big deal, but it is a big deal for the members of the Buffalo Fire Department.

    BFD recently received a free flagpole and American Flag from the Woodmen of the World insurance company. They had a dedication ceremony before their business meeting on Tuesday, August 21. The flagpole and flag is located next to their fire station in downtown Buffalo.

  • Ken Gibson celebrated his 90th birthday August 23, but he can’t really put a finger on the reason for his longevity.

    Speaking at his home on Bailey Road last week, he offered, “I smoked, but quit several years ago; I drank some, but quit that, too; and the only way I watched my diet was looking at the food as I put it in my mouth.”

    He has attended church for many years, first at St. Anne’s in Howardstown and later at Our Lady of Mercy in Hodgenville. 

  • The 47th Annual Lincoln Day’s Art Show is currently taking entries.
