  • Write more

Do you write? You might quickly answer with a “no,” thinking writing is something only authors and reporters do. But, you probably write more than you realize. Think about it, with all the text messages, emails, cards, letters and notes. Even if you don’t write much, maybe you should consider writing more.

    5 Reasons to Write More:

  • Church: Before, During, After

Jesus told the story of two men who went to church.  Read the story in Luke 18:9-14 and you will easily see two different attitudes represented by the men.  One sees his great need while the other sees his great self.  One is boasting and putting himself on a pedestal, while the other man in humility pours out his heart to God in penitent tears.

  • God’s great love

Valentine’s Day has arrived and all around our country expressions of love are being exchanged.

Children will trade Valentine’s Day cards, couples will go out to eat or send flowers, and some individuals will become engaged. As great as those moments are, others experience Valentine’s Day as a day of loneliness, pain, and depression. For those experiencing the expression of love in this season let me share with you a great love. For those experiencing the pain of the season, let me offer you a great love of hope.

  • Online kindness

Lately I’ve been cringing when I get on social media. I cringe when I see people I know and care about act like a fool online. Unfortunately, I recognize online foolishness because I’ve done it myself. I’ve been snarky, sarcastic, and selfish online. How about you? Are you showing kindness online?

Six questions to Ask Before You Make Your Next Post, Gram, Tweet, or Snap…

    1. Is It Kind?

  • He who endures

Endurance is a great quality normally found in the life of successful people. Successful athletes certainly possess this ability of sticking with a task until they achieve their goal. An athlete endures the physical hardships in order to win the victory.

Life could be compared to a marathon race, which contains many twists and turns and can only be won by endurance, steadfastness and dependability. As you run the race of life, no matter the difficulties and the obstacles you face, remember he who endures to the end will be the real winner.

  • The command to gather together

A growing trend within the Christian culture is the abandonment of the local church. Fewer believers are committing to a local church as a member and most of them find reasons not to regularly attend. Recently, a study revealed that individuals who do not regularly attend church but claim to be believers state reasons such as:

    1. I need down time

    2. There are no good churches nearby

    3. The needs of my family are not met

    4. They feel that it is nothing but routine

  • Who is coming to dinner?

Since we were young children, we have heard the story of Zacchaeus, the “wee little man,” who climbed up into the sycamore tree to see Jesus as He passed by. Zacchaeus was one of the interesting characters from the New Testament that had an encounter with Jesus during our Lord’s earthly ministry (Luke 19:1-10). When he climbed up into the tree to see Jesus, Zacchaeus was a wealthy and successful businessman, who held a powerful position in Roman-occupied Israel. For a man of his status his actions would be considered a bit “strange” today.

  • Secret sin

All of us face a common temptation to sin, especially in secret. Our particular temptations may be different, but our struggle with sin is real. God has a lot to say to help us as we struggle with secret sin.

Romans 7:15 “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.”

  • Living in God’s smile

In Numbers 6:24-26 God spoke to Moses that Aaron was to pronounce a blessing upon the children of Israel.  We have heard this as a benediction by ministers in worship services.  “The Lord bless you, and keep you; The Lord make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance on you, and give you peace.”
