  • 48th Usher Day

  • Fear not

A few weeks ago we started a conversation on the common struggle we experience with fear. Here are five amazing truths to build courage in you for the daily battles of life.

God Chose You. If you have received Christ as your Lord and Savior, you have been adopted. You are loved. You are chosen. You are wanted. You are not alone. Nothing can separate you from the adoptive love of your Heavenly Father. So don’t forget that….don’t fall back into fear. Fight fear.

  • Resurrection Realities

There is no concept more universal than resurrection.  We find the idea of life continuing beyond the grave in all religions and cults.  The hunger for immortality is strong in the breast of every man.

As Christians we mean something different from the concepts of afterlife taught by other religions.  We need to define resurrection especially Christ’s resurrection.  The Greek word means “up” or “again”.

  • Jesus paid it all

How much did it cost? We ask that question all the time about everything from a new car to a new suit? Some who get good deals are quick to speak of their “brag--ains.”

Jesus told the disciples, “I am going to prepare a place for you” (John 14:1). Have you asked the question, “What did it cost Christ to prepare this place?

  • The criminal's choice

As we celebrate Easter, may we not forget the significance of Good Friday. On Good Friday, Jesus ascended the hill known as Calvary to face the punishment of death that we deserved in order to make an atoning sacrifice on our behalf. On the cross, Jesus found himself surrounded by a crowd of people, Roman soldiers, and two thieves who were facing the punishment of the cross as well.

  • Humble yourself

You are more proud than you realize. I am too. We are more arrogant than we care to admit. We default to being jerky and judgmental with a dangerous frequency. We need to humble ourselves quickly before the Lord humbles us through painful discipline.

Here are four thoughts on why and how we should humble ourselves:

  • Why Did Jesus Die?

What a trial --- the charges were false and the witnesses were paid to lie. Has anyone ever heard of such injustice? Yet, Jesus who could have commanded the armies of heaven to come to His rescue, died willingly. He voluntarily placed Himself in the hands of cruel men who crucified Him.
