  • 10 Truths on Money

Money is a touchy topic. Finances cause much conflict in many relationships and families. How can we better understand and live responsibly in the midst of the challenges of savings, debts, and costs of life? The Bible has plenty to say, but here are 10 truths from God’s Word on money!

1.Everything Belongs to God (Genesis 1:1, Psalm 24:1, Haggai 2:8, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Remembering and practicing this truth will conquer a lot of our money problems! We need to stop thinking of things and money as “ours” and refer to them as “God’s.”

  • More faith, less fear

Why do we fear?  One may say that the devil is behind it all.  The devil does not want us to have the peace that God wants us to have.  Adam’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden caused him to fear when he heard God’s voice.  He knew he was not ready to face God.

One could also say that a person is responsible for his own fearfulness.  Adam didn’t have to do what he did.  He chose to disobey God, and then he had reason to fear God.

  • Your Choice Will Make a Difference

Life’s greatest decisions always carry with them the ramifications of the paths we choose. The doors we take in life must be approached with discernment and thoughtfulness that flows from who Christ is in us. A good example of how the choices we make effect our future can be found in Genesis 13, 14, and 19 in the life of Abraham’s nephew, Lot.

  • Congratulations Graduates!

2018 graduates, we congratulate you!  Certainly you have worked hard to achieve this honor, but no one can rest on his/her laurels. “Commencement” means “a beginning or start, launch, kickoff.”

As you conclude your high school years and begin a new chapter in your life, I want to pose this question to you as I would also ask my grandson who is a high school graduate:  “What is in your heart?”  Men and women are made by the things which are in their hearts.

  • Our God Is Awesome

I get too busy for God. I get too self-focused away from God. I forget God in many moments of my day. Do you struggle this way too? We don’t reflect as often or deeply as to how wonderful He truly is.

God reminded me this week in Psalm 139 of how incredibly awesome He is. Maybe this will help you as it as helped me.

Our God Is Personal! He cares about the details of our days. He knows us inside and out. He watches us as a loving Father. He listens to our cries and hurts. He holds us, protects us, and comforts us with His strong arms.

  • Remember and Give Thanks

One day a few weeks ago, as my wife and I were riding down Ring Road in Elizabethtown, I suddenly felt an impulse to turn into the Nature Park where I had heard there was a replica of the Vietnam War Memorial Wall.  The memorial contains the names of thousands of service men and women who lost their lives in a war, the value of which is still being debated.  The wall is very symbolic as it reminds us of lives lost in a distant country.
