  • Band of Hawks finishing strong

    The LaRue County High School Band of Hawks continue to survive and advance throughout the marching season as they keep their eye on the prize of returning to the state finals.

    Last Saturday, the Band of Hawks traveled to Bowling Green for the 2018 Class AA West Regional where they placed 3rd out of 9 overall regardless of class. They placed behind Adair County and Glasgow, but above other strong bands such as Casey County, Hart County and Trigg County.

    The Hodgenville Police Department is now accepting applications for their Hanging with Heroes program.

  • Christmas time is Coming

    It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, well, maybe not yet, but it won’t be long until Creekfront park in Hodgenville will display a variety of light displays by local non-profit, civic and local businesses from across the county. With the displays lit up for everyone to enjoy from November 20 through January 1, it’s time to make your plans to participate.

    The revival at Sunrise Manor was enjoyed by many residents, family, friends and the community last week. All three nights was spirit filled and reminded me of how the “old time revival” use to be. Everyone felt revived after the services. Hats off to Sunrise Manor for providing revival for the residents, their families and the community.

    Last Sunday was the Homecoming at Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Upton. The afternoon guest was Reverend Kenny Carter Sr. and Second Christian Church of Columbia, KY.

    Modern Woodmen Chapter 259’s First Hometown Hero award was recently presented to Sandy Kidd of Hodgenville, KY.

    Sandy Kidd is the Executive Director of the LaRue County Chamber of Commerce, and according to Stan Mullins with Modern Woodmen, Kidd “is known for her great attitude, her big heart for volunteerism and tireless energy when working for the good of the Community and the Marketplace.”

    Kathy Piper of Sonora is proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming wedding of her daughter Charla Piper to Luke Estes of Elizabethtown

    The bride to be is the daughter of Kathy Piper and the late George Piper, Jr. Maternal grandparents are Virginia Ann Pence of Bonnievile, and the late Charlie Pence. Paternal grandparents are the late Lealia and George Piper, Sr. Charla is the children’s director at White Mills Christian Church.

  • 4-H Country Ham Auction

    The third annual 4-H Ham Auction was held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 during Lincoln Days.  Fourteen hams were sold with 80% of the sale price going to the 4-Her and 20% for 4-H Ham project expenses.  A total of $1755 was raised.  Special thanks to all the buyers and the auctioneer, Tyler Howell.
