    Christmas Blessings, formerly known as Santa’s Helpers/Santa Bus is a ministry helping the residents of LaRue County during the Christmas season.

    Instead of catching the bus this year, the program will be held at Ovesen Heights Baptist Church located at 1604 Bardstown Road in Hodgenville, and will be held on

    Saturday, December 22.

    Magnolia residents’ time is between 

    9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.


  • A modern twist on Girlhood

    A new boutique has opened in LaRue County, and on Friday, December 7, The LaRue County Chamber of Commerce celebrated with their newest member in a ribbon cutting ceremony.

  • Christmas Belles

    The LCHS Speech and Drama program once again teamed up with the Kelly Dean Sanders Fund to present ‘Dinner and a Show’ to raise funds for both programs. Last weekend, the community was able to attend the collaborative project, as community members filled the auditorium, and enjoyed a great meal as they were treated to the LCHS Production of Christmas Belles. All the profits were split between the two programs.

  • Red Cross recognizes Propes

    Donnie Propes dedicated servant hood as a faithful donor was recognized by the American Red Cross on Tuesday, December 11 during the blood drive held in his memory. The plaque stated ‘In Grateful Appreciation presented to Donnie Propes for donating 48 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. Your generous donations help the patients we serve in need and support our mission to save lives.”

  • Garrison’s 50th

    Bill and Evelyn Garrison are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple was married on December 21, 1968.

    An open house reception will be held in their honor on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. at South Fork Baptist Church located at 4915 New Jackson Hwy. Hodgenville KY.

    The couple requests no gifts, but cards are welcome.   

  • Williams Birth

    Randy and Janice Williams wish to announce the birth of their grandson, Lincoln Jonas Williams.

    Lincoln was born to their oldest son, Nate Williams and his wife, Larissa, on November 5, 2018. He weighed 7 lbs. 9oz. and was 20 inches long.

    Someone once asked me how I hold my head up so high after all I’ve been through, I said, it’s because no matter what, I am a survivor not a victim. 

    This will be hardest column I have had to write in the 20 plus years I have been writing for the paper.
