    Circuit Clerk’s Office closed

    The LaRue County Circuit Clerk’s office will be closed for training on June 14 and 15. The office will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 18.

    New Action Office

    The LaRue County Community Action Office is now located at 112 N. Walters Ave, Hodgenville (inside the Senior Citizens Center). This is a temporary location pending a move to permanent quarters. Office hours are now Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • A Beary Good Day

    The Teddy Bear Picnic was a huge success last Thursday, June 7, as families overflowed the picnic area at Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Park in Hodgenville.

    The Teddy Bear Picnic is an annual local event that is held for everyone, and distance doesn’t seem to be a limiting factor for families that love the event.

  • LaRue County BFFs that Bleed Blue

    In the lexicon of texting there’s a three-letter phrase—“bff”---that means “best friends forever.”

    Those letters apply very well to two LaRue Countians—Sybil Johnson and Rita Williams—who since childhood have enjoyed many experiences together.

  • Fundraising Calendar

    Shoe collection

    A shoe collection is taking place at the First Baptist Church to raise funds for a medical service dog for Xander Helm. Each pair of shoes collected will equal $10 in the fundraiser. The shoes will be cleaned, repaired, repurposed and used around the world. The collection totes are located in the front and back foyers of the church located at 730 Tonieville Road in Hodgenville. For more information call 270-358-3193. The final day for donations is May 31.

    Daily Activities

    The Senior Citizens Center in Hodgenville offers several activities daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. including a hot lunch (served at noon, on weekdays), nutritional education and exercise. Suggested meal donation is $2. Bingo is played at 10 a.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday. For more information, call 270-358-4235.

     American Legion

    The American Legion will be hosting consignment auctions from 7-10 p.m. every Tuesday night. 20 percent of the sale will go to raising funds for the American Legion. They will also have yard sale booths available everyday for $10 per booth per day. For more information please call 270-774-1985.

  • National Speech Student of the Year

    Elena Cecil, an LCHS senior and member of the LCHS Speech Team, was selected as one of six finalists for the National Speech and Debate Association Student of the Year award given annually at the NSDA National Speech and Debate Tournament held in June. This year’s tournament will be in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, where Cecil will also be a competitor in Oratory.

    NSDA is a nationwide organization and honor society, and its national tournament features winners from each state’s competitions, the top speech students from around the country.

    Happy anniversary to Danny/Liz Price who will celebrate their anniversary this Thursday.

    First Baptist- Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. will be hosting a Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. there will be choir rehearsal. Rev. Scott Curle will be preaching this Sunday morning in the absence of our pastor.
