  • Slack Graduation

    John Ross Slack of Hodgenville graduated from the University Of Louisville Brandeis School Of Law on May 12, 2018.

    He graduated Summa cum Laude, and received the Distinction in Litigation skills award as well as being recognized as the Outstanding Graduate of the school due to his high scholarship, prominent leadership, and service to the university.

    When he was a small boy, Clay Rogers used to look up in the sky at all the airplanes flying above him and wonder what the view of the ground would look like from the passengers’ perspectives.

    Now, he no longer has to wonder as the recent graduate of LaRue County High School is well on his way to gaining his private pilot’s license.

    Her nearly-perfect attendance record through 12 years of elementary, middle, and high school validates the fact that 2018 LaRue County High School graduate Jenna Hazelwood definitely does not like to miss school.

    In fact, she was absent only one day in all those years of school.

    “I missed that day during my first grade year, but even though we’ve tried to recall the reason, my mother (Letisia) and I can’t remember what it was,” said the 18-year-old Hodgenville resident.

  • United Way invests $274,000 in LaRue nonprofits

    United Way of Central Kentucky (UWCK) recently announced 2018 community investments of over $937,000 that will provide opportunities for more people in Hardin, Breckinridge, Grayson, LaRue, and Meade Counties to move out of poverty. Nine agencies with ten programs serving LaRue County were awarded $274,000 of these funds.

    New Action Office

    The LaRue County Community Action office is now located at 112 N. Walters Ave, Hodgenville (inside the Senior Citizens Center). This is a temporary location pending a move to permanent quarters. Office hours are now Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

    Daily Activities

    The Senior Citizens Center in Hodgenville offers several activities daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. including a hot lunch (served at noon, on weekdays), nutritional education and exercise. Suggested meal donation is $2. Bingo is played at 10 a.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday. For more information, call 270-358-4235.
