This Sunday will be the Church Anniversary & Annual Homecoming at Pleasant Run Baptist Church in Campbellsville. The afternoon guest will be Reverend John C. Lee and his congregation from Bowling Green.

The Community Fellowship Picnic was a success as a few of the residents from Sunrise Manor attended the picnic. They really enjoyed themselves and we were very glad to have them. Congratulations to Brian and Sharon Smith on celebrating their 23rd anniversary last Saturday. Yvette Best was admitted to the emergency room and returned home recently.

  • Plan for your retirement savings

Working hard, paying bills and putting money aside for your needs and wants in the “now” are so often automatic in our day-to-day lives. However, you also need to think about your future retirement plans. According to the 2015 Retirement Confidence Survey from the Employee Benefit Research Institute, nearly one-third of workers have almost no retirement savings or investments (under $1,000) and a staggering 57% are underprepared with less than $25,000 for retirement.

  • Community garden

On May 29, the first day of summer break, a group of middle school boys and a community member donated their time and garden tools to help me put in a community garden here at the LaRue County Community Action. These community members have been by several times since then to help keep the garden up. Anyone in the community is welcome to join in and work in the garden. When we start to get fruits and vegetables out of the garden, they will be here for me to give out to the community and/or the senior citizens at the senior center.

  • Hodgenville News - July 8,2015

Thought for the week: Worry looks around, Regret looks back, Faith looks forward.

Out and about in Hodgenville this week: Well, all I can say about all the rain we had on Friday, that should be enough for a while, I couldn’t believe how fast it came down.

Several church groups from Hodgenville have gone on mission trips this week, First Baptist Church went to the Dominican Republic, and Parkway Baptist went to Louisiana. I think that is so awesome!
