  • Birth Announcement - John Thomas Dohn

    Judson and Sarah Dohn are proud to announce the birth of their son John Thomas Dohn. John is named after his late great Papaw John Thomas Pearman.

    John was born September 9, 2015 at 4:15 p.m. He weighed 8 pounds and 3 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    John’s paternal grandparents are Joe and Glenda Pearman Dohn of Hodgenville, great grandparents are Dixie Farmer Pearman of Hodgenville and the late John Thomas Pearman, Fred and Nannie Berry Dohn of Rineyville and great-great grandparent Ruby Sherrard Berry of Rineyville.

  • Hart Memorial High School Reunion

    Hart Memorial High School classes of 1960, 1961 and 1962 met at Decades Restaurant in Magnolia on August 7, 2015 for a tri-reunion. Everyone enjoyed the food, fellowship and remembering “The Good Old Days.”

    Fall means many things to different people. For many people it’s all things pumpkin, colorful leaves, festivals and trick-or-treating. But there is another side, a wild side, to fall that is often overlooked, not because it isn’t popular or because it is rare; on the contrary, this fall activity is widely known increasingly popular. What is this other side of fall? Why, hunting of course.

  • Renovations underway at Arrowhead

    Several changes are being made to Arrowhead Archery and BBQ that will have an affect on the community.

    Owners Louie and Melissa Payne said they closed the retail/pawn store on October 2 and that they will expand their restaurant into the former store.

    Melissa Payne said the declining sales in their retail business and increasing sales in their restaurant prompted the change. She said the current dining room will become part of the kitchen and the former store area will become the new dining room.

    Deep Fried Apple Pie Bites

    1 qt Vegetable oil

    1 pk Prepared refrigerated pie crust

    1 can Lucky Leaf Apple Pie Filling

    1 tbsp Pure maple syrup

    1 tsp Cinnamon

    For the coating

    3 tbsp Butter

    1/2 C Sugar

    1/4 C Cinnamon

    Instructions

    Preheat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Oil should reach temperatures between 350°-375° F. It is best to use a candy thermometer.

    Boyhood Home now open

    The Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek, part of the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park is now open. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 7 days a week. The park will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. For more information, visit www.nps.gov/abli.

    The Lincoln Trail Area Development District Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday, October 21 at 1:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Trail ADD office in Elizabethtown.
