A former LaRue County Mat Hawk continues to rack up honors in wrestling.

Todd Allen, in his first year as head coach at Cumberland University, was voted Co-Coach of the Year. He mentored three All-Americans, the most in one season in the program's history.

Zeke Hunt, Cody Linton and Jake Williams were named as All-Americans. Hunt and Joe Gallegos earned All-Mid-South Conference; Michael Gonzalez and David Capers were also named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Cumberland finished 14th at the NAIA Championships while welcoming 19 newcomers to the roster this season. The Bulldogs won 11 dual matches during the year as well.

Allen was a state champion and runner-up under long-time Mat Hawk Coach Gary Canter, who is retiring this year.

Allen graduated from the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg. He was a two-time NAIA All-American placing third and eighth.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2006 and earned his master’s degree in 2008.

Prior to joining Cumberland University, Allen worked for a commercial contractor and was deployed with the U.S. Army as a Company Commander in support of military operations in the Middle East.

Allen resides in Lebanon, Tenn., with his wife Kristin and their children, Leeson and Emmerson.
