Assistant manager and personal trainer Bryan Carroll is enthusiastic about the future of SNAP Fitness in Lincoln Plaza on Shawnee Drive in Hodgenville. The business is owned by Austin and Kayla McCown of Meade County.

“We design the workout. All people have to do is show up,” said Carroll of the new boot camp approach to the gym membership. Carroll and his father, Mark Carroll, fitness managers, plan to add other features to the business.

“The two reasons people don’t do gym memberships is they don’t know how to get started and they don’t have the motivation,” said Bryan Carroll. “They are all helping each other,” he said of the boot camp classes that lay out the exercises and give people targeted exercises.

“We are making a push to start some new programs, offer group training classes and personal training,” said owner Austin McCown.

The gym has Matrix weight machines, free weights, elliptical machines for cardio workouts, treadmills, a tilt treadmill, stationary bikes, a rowing machine, an adjustable squat rack and a Smith machine. Many of the weight machines do not require spotters which allows customers to come at a convenient, individualized time for exercise.

Terry Sandidge of Buffalo works out at SNAP Fitness about six days a week. “I make it part of my day,” he said. He does about 30 minutes of cardio exercises and about 30 minutes of weightlifting. “I definitely feel better when I go,” he added.

SNAP Fitness, a national franchise, is open 24 hours, seven days a week. The customer gets an electronic keycard that unlocks the door, making the gym always accessible. Video surveillance keeps the business safe.

SNAP Fitness also offers Fitness on Demand with computerized lessons for 500 classes for customers, according to co-owner Kayla McCown.

The business also offers tanning beds and stand-up tanning. The business is offering a personal training push the last week of July to generate interest and engage possibilities for workout options in Hodgenville.

Since the offices are always accessible with keypad entry, the gym facilities can be used anytime. The front desk, usually staffed 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, can be contacted at 270-358-5417.
