State Representative Brandon Reed was recently appointed to the House Tobacco Agreement Fund Oversight Committee.

The committee is charged with matters pertaining to the Agricultural Development Board such as requests for grants and loans, planning to establish goals, and revitalization of tobacco farms, among other things. In his role, Reed will also be responsible for developing public institution research in alternative crop development and also giving direction on the use of Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement money in Kentucky.

“It is an honor to be selected to serve on this vital committee,” Reed said. “Agriculture and research have been positively impacted by the tobacco settlement fund, and we must ensure this success continues. Agriculture is not only a leading industry in the Commonwealth, but drives the economies of Green, Larue, and Marion Counties. I look forward to serving on this committee, and being a continued voice for our farmers and farm families.”

Reed also serves on the Agriculture, Judiciary, and Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Protection Committees.
