Power outages continue in LaRue County

Power outages continue in LaRue County after an ice storm recently hit the county and other surrounding counties.

According to Nolin RECC, at its peak they had around 11,000 members without power and as 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, November 15 they had around 7,100 members without power in their service area, which includes members in LaRue County. Kentucky Utilities is also reporting approximately 25-50 outages in LaRue County according to their outage map as of 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, November 15.

Both electric companies said they have been working since the late hours of Wednesday, November 14 to restore power to all impacted areas as quickly and safely as possible. They also caution anyone who sees a downed power line to assume that it is live and to avoid the area.  Any potentially dangerous situations should be reported to 9-1-1.

Local meteorologists are also reporting that LaRue and other surrounding counties could receive between a half to one inch of snow during the afternoon on Thursday, November 15. Officials advise anyone who has to travel on the roadways to use caution.
