Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown had its Trooper of the Year and Detective of the Year recognized in May at the Frankfort Convention Center.

Senior Trooper Michael Garyantes and Detective Jason Propes were honored.

Garyantes is an 11-year veteran of KSP and has been assigned to Post 4 his whole career.

“Within his 11-year career he has earned the reputation of the ultimate team player, informal leader, and a hard working individual,” Post 4 Commander Capt. David Millay said. “His wife Regan and all of his colleagues at Post 4 are proud to see him receive this prestigious award.”

Propes is a 16-year veteran of KSP with stops at Post 2 Madisonville, Post 15 Columbia, and Post 4 Elizabethtown. He now is a detective at KSP DESI-West.

“Detective Propes exemplifies what a great detective is. His many years of investigative experience, his intellect, his teamwork and his desire to be great set the standards for what this award is all about,” Millay said. “In addition to his investigative skills, Jason has been a part of changing our firearms range training for both this post and the agency. His dedication to his casework, his wife, Donna, and two boys, and his dedication to his colleagues, makes him the obvious choice for this year’s Detective of the Year.”
