Police investigate Springfield Road shooting

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting of a 20-year-old man Monday night inside his Springfield Road home.

Deputies responded around 6:15 p.m. to a home in the 4000 block of Springfield Road where a man had been shot. Hardin County Sheriff John Ward said the man suffered a single gunshot wound to the neck.

Police have not identified the man, who was treated by Hardin County EMS and trans­ported to Hardin Memorial Hospital. The man’s condition was unavailable Tuesday.

According to deputies, one woman and four men entered the home and demanded money and drugs. One of the men fired a round from the gun, striking the resident. The five suspects left the home and drove away in a silver Chrysler, according to a news release. No detailed descriptions are available.

The investigation is ongoing.
