LaRue County Schools are using an assessment technique known as benchmarking that lets teachers know in which areas of reading their students are strong or struggling.

“Our teachers are pumped about the info they are gleaning from these assessments,” Rollanda Grubbs, curriculum specialist, said. “They are seeing the benefits and want to share what they are finding.”

One of those teachers, Heather Cline, said, “Benchmarking gives me a clear picture of where my kids are as readers, and that, in turn, is helping me be a better teacher.”
