Master Cattlemen classes begin Tuesday

-A A +A

Program open to LaRue, Meade and Hardin counties

By John Friedlein

Registration is under way for what may be the final year of the popular Kentucky Heartland Master Cattlemen program. The classes, which start Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Hardin County Extension Service office, have been attended by a range of participants, from full-time producers to those considering buying cattle. During the past several years, extension agent Doug Shepherd has seen an increase in those who move to the country and buy a few head of cattle. But large full-time operations are not expanding as much because of factors such as increasing input costs.
