Legal Aid Society offers free clinics

 The Legal Aid Society, 416 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd., Louisville, will hold free legal clinics in July, August and September. Each session will be held at that location unless otherwise stated.

A reservation for each clinic is required. Contact the Legal Aid Society at 502-584-1254 to make your reservation.

Divorce Clinic– 9:30 a.m. July 10; 10 a.m. Aug. 8 (Breckinridge County Library); 9:30 a.m. Aug. 14; 1 p.m. Aug. 28 (Hardin County Judicial Center); 9:30 a.m. Sept. 18. Clients will receive assistance from attorneys in filling out all of the necessary paperwork to file for a divorce.

Foreclosure Clinic– 4 p.m. July 10; 11 a.m. July 15; 4 p.m. July 17; 11 a.m. July 22; 4 p.m. July 24; 11 a.m. July 29; 11 a.m. July 29; 4 p.m. July 31; 11 a.m. Aug. 5; 4 p.m. Aug. 7; 11 a.m. Aug. 12; 4 p.m. Aug. 14; 11 a.m. Aug. 19; 4 p.m. Aug. 21; 11 a.m. Aug. 26; 4 p.m. Aug. 28; 11 a.m. Sept. 2; 4 p.m. Sept. 4; 11 a.m. Sept. 94 p.m. Sept. 11; 11 a.m. Sept. 16; 4 p.m. Sept. 18; 11 a.m. Sept. 23; 4 p.m. Sept. 25; 11 a.m. Sept. 30.  Attorneys will be on hand to answer questions about foreclosures and provide advice on alternatives to foreclosure. Clients are provided with the forms necessary to file a claim, and an attorney will review completed claims.

Expungement Clinic­– 1 p.m. July 17; 1 p.m. Aug. 21 and Sept. 18, Louisville Free Public Library Main Branch (301 York St.), South Wing, 2nd Floor. An attorney will be on hand to discuss the expungement process and which charges can be expunged. Attendees are encouraged to bring a copy of their criminal record which shows the disposition of each case. A copy of the record may be obtained from Court Archives located in the basement of the Old Jail Building at 514 West Liberty Street in Louisville.

Wills Clinic for Veterans– 1 p.m. July 30. Veterans will be paired with an attorney who will help them prepare wills, health care surrogates, powers of attorney, and living wills. Call Legal Aid at 502-614-3130 or email hbaker@laslou.org by July 18 to make a reservation.

Health Law Clinic – A Driver’s Manual for Using your New Health Plan Effectively – 6 p.m. Aug. 5; 6 p.m. Sept. 8 (Hardin County Public Library, 100 Jim Owen Drive, Elizabethtown); 1:30 p.m. Sept. 10 (Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky, 1640 Lyndon Farm Court, Louisville). Legal Aid Society staff will give a brief presentation and answer questions about how newly insured Kentuckians with private insurance can get the most value out of their plan.

Small Claims– 2 p.m. Aug. 20; 2 p.m. Sept. 24. Clients are provided with the forms necessary to file a claim, and an attorney will review completed claims.
