Hart County deputies arrested a Larue County man Tuesday charged with dozens of sex crimes.

James Turner, 41, of Magnolia, was arrested on a warrant charging him with 52 counts of third-degree sodomy.

He was placed in Hart County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 unsecured bond.

Hart County Sheriff Boston Hensley said Turner came to the attention of law enforcement through a complaint.

The 52 counts involve one juvenile, and the conduct is alleged to have occurred over a two-year period, Hensley said.

Third-degree sodomy is a Class D felony that can be charged when a person 21 or older engages in deviate sexual intercourse with a person younger than 16.

It can also be charged when a person 21 or older engages in deviate sexual intercourse with a person younger than 18 who is provided foster care by the perpetrator; or when the victim cannot consent because of an intellectual disability; or when a person with a position of authority or special trust victimizes someone with whom he or she comes into contact because of that position; or when a jailer, employee, contractor, vendor or volunteer at a detention facility subjects an incarcerated person to deviate sexual intercourse.

The offense is punishable by up to five years in prison.
