A petition for a LaRue County wet/dry vote with anticipation of being added to the November general election ballot fell short of the number of verified signatures required by September 1.

Local businessman Cody McDowell, owner and operator of Lincoln Lodge, filed a petition with the LaRue County Clerk for a Wet/Dry Petition for the county of LaRue on June 14, to let the people of the county decide whether alcohol should be sold in the county or not, following the potential annexation of property in the county by the City of Hodgenville.

McDowell stated throughout the petition cycle, that he just wanted the voters of the county to decide.

As of the September 1, 2019 deadline, the petition was unable to garner the 1,244 needed registered voter signatures and the vote will not be added to the general election ballot in November. At the time of writing there are no plans to continue the petition effort.
