A LaRue County High School student was recently named the winner of the Coca-Cola Talent Contest at the Taylor County Fair.

Kenzi Langley, a 15-year-old from Hodgenville, competed in the contest held at the Taylor County fairgrounds June 7. She sang Beyonce’s “At Last” and took home first place.

As a result, Langley will be competing in the next stage of the talent contest at the Kentucky State Fair this summer.

Langley said the competition was stiff and winning was unexpected.

“There was a lot of competition and everyone was really good. I was really surprised when I won …. I didn’t expect it. I guess they just liked the song choice.”

Langley said she has been singing since she was about 2 years old, and that she’s performed at several churches and jamborees in the area. She also sings the National Anthem for LaRue County Middle and High School athletic events.

“I just love singing,” said Langley. “It’s what I want to do when I get older.”

Langley recently competed in the 4-H talent competition and won first place at the district level. She’s planning to audition for the national television show, America’s Got Talent in the next few months.

She is also preparing to audition for the Colgate Country Showdown, a national competition that begins with several local radio stations, including one in Taylor County, where Langley will audition.

Langley said that her next big performance is Aug. 7 at the Shepherdsville Jamboree. She also said that she’s been working on a CD, and that it should be coming out in the coming weeks.
