Governors Cup goes to Tennessean

Rough River Dam State Park hosts annual event

Maddie Denton of Murfreesboro, Tenn., won the Governors Cup as the state championship fiddler at the Official Kentucky State Championship Old Time Fiddlers Contest last weekend. She also won backup musician and junior fiddler, beating Doug Fleener and Adam French, both of Leitchfield.

Joel Whittinghill of Bowling Green won second place in the championship and Leonard Lawson of Vine Grove took third. The 35th annual event attracted competitors from several states, including Indiana, Tennessee, Georgia and Colorado, to Rough River Dam State Resort Park.
