Getting things right

For diesel owners there’s nothing like the hum of a diesel engine. But when one breaks down or needs to be worked on, there can be nothing more frustrating than trying to figure out the problem and work on it yourself. Finding a mechanic that specializes in diesel can be equally difficult.

Justin Lafollette opened Crimson Diesel in the spring of 2012 with a partner, Michael Lawless, who has since left the business.

“I’ve always enjoyed working on everyone’s vehicles, and my neighbor went to mechanics school so we decided to open a business together.” Lafollette said.

When they were looking for a name, Lafollette said, “My favorite color is actually green, I don’t like red and we thought about using Viridian Diesel, but the name was already used by other diesel shops. So we looked into other colors and Crimson stood out and was catchy.”

They opened up in the old Donohue Ferrill building on the corner of Greensburg Street and 31E just off the square in downtown Hodgenville. Crimson Diesel has 5 work bays and they have the ability to keep 7 full size trucks indoors. They will work on all pickup trucks, vans, and cars as well as medium duty trucks and semis that are less than 11 feet in height. They also offer full diagnostics on all domestic, imports and European models. Though Crimson Diesel specializes in diesel motors they also offer a full line of automotive/gas repairs.

“I try to work on every truck like it’s my own. I’d rather take my time to figure out the problem than just guess and throw parts on,” Lafollette said.

Crimson Diesel is located at 102 North Greensburg Street. They are open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Their phone number is 270-324-2224. Check out their website at www.crimsondiesel.com
