Food Preservation Workshop

-A A +A

This year LaRue County residents will have the unique opportunity to attend a three day hands-on food preservation workshop. The class is offered at the Extension Office on Tuesday through Thursday, July 23 – 25. Classes are from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. Topics covered include: pressure canning, water bath processing, dehydration and freezing. Participants will be canning green beans, salsa, dehydrating fruit, and freezing corn and jam.

The classes are offered as a series and participants are expected to attend all three days. The classes are free, but participants must sign up in advance. To register, call the Extension Office at 270 358-3401. Spaces are limited. If you are unable to attend the classes, but would like information, the Extension Office has various publications in canning and freezing. Various recipe cards are also available in order to use vegetables and fruits as they are in season. Stop by the Extension Office to pick up information or call to have it mailed to you.
