Emancipation Proclamation Anniversary observance

   The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park will host an “Emancipation Proclamation 150th Anniversary Observance” on the weekend of Jan. 12-13. All activities are free to the public.

Over the course of the weekend, children can participate in a scavenger-hunt activity to find various landmarks around the park. On Jan. 12 the park will host two speakers.  At 1 p.m., Dr. Robert Dietle, head of the history department at Western Kentucky University will speak. At 2 p.m., Jim Sayre will portray President Abraham Lincoln. The presentation will be in the theater section of the visitors’ center.
