E’town doctor indicted in regional drug sweep

An Elizabethtown doctor was among 60 people charged and indicted in a regional sweep for their alleged participation in the illegal prescribing and distributing of opioids and other dangerous narcotics and for health care fraud schemes.

Ijaz Mahmood, who lives in Jefferson County and operates a practice at 1239 Woodland Drive in Elizabethtown, was among 31 doctors across 11 federal districts to be indicted, according to Department of Justice news release and indictment.
