Goodtime Cruisers

The Goodtime Cruisers show will be held on Saturday, August 17 beginning at 4 p.m. on the square in downtown Hodgenville. Food will be available as well as public restrooms in the Christian Church annex during the show.

Drawing Workshop

Central Kentucky Art Guild invites the public to a drawing workshop from 10 a.m. to noon on August 17 at Our Place, 790 N. Dixie, Suite 900, Elizabethtown, KY. Artists are asked to bring their own supplies. The meeting is open to all who are interested. POC: centralkyartguild.com

DYW Program

The LaRue County Distinguished Young Women program will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 24 at LCHS auditorium. Five young ladies will be participating for scholarship money. They will compete in the areas of scholastic, fitness, self-expression, talent and interview. The winner will advance to the state program in Lexington on January 10 -11, 2020. Tickets for the program are $10 for adults and $5 for school age children and they can be purchased at the door. Malerie Skaggs is the current (2019) Distinguished Young Women of LaRue County. Overdose Awareness Program

The Hodgenville Police Department will conduct their annual Overdose Awareness program at 7 p.m. on August 31 at Hodgenville Civic Center. The event is open to the public.


Parkinson’s Support Group

The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on August 21 at Colton’s Steakhouse located at 1001 Granite Drive in Bardstown. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m. and beginning in September will be at the Nelson County Library Community Room. All those touched by Parkinson’s are welcome. HMH Wellness on Wheels

Hardin Memorial Hospital’s WOW Wellness on Wheels will be located at Save-A-Lot in Hodgenville from 7:30 a.m. -12 p.m. on Monday, August 19, providing the following preventative wellness screenings: blood pressure, body fat analysis, body mass index and blood glucose-no charge. Anemia screening-$5; Cholesterol panel which includes total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL, LDL and glucose for $20; Thyroid Screening- $15. No appointment necessary. Twelve Step Spiritual Recovery Meeting

Twelve Step Spiritual Recovery meeting will be held at the LaRue County Public Library every Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. Questions can be directed by calling 502-424-3029.

LIFE LINE Screenings

Residents of LaRue County can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, and other chronic conditions with screenings by Life Line Screening on August 29. First Baptist Church located at 730 Tonieville Road in Hodgenville will be the host of the community event. There is a cost associated with the screenings. For more information call 1-877-237-1287. Hodgenville Woman’s Club

Hodgenville Woman’s Club meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on August 20 at the clubhouse. The speaker will be John Slack, a LaRue County graduate, now an attorney talking about wills and legal issues for families. Visitors are welcome. POC is Opal Dail 270-358-9967.

Sons of the American Revolution

The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday August 24 at 10 a.m. in the Hardin County History Museum when chapter member Gregory Liske will give a presentation of firearms used in the Revolutionary War.

AA Meeting

A weekly meeting of AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) is held each Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Hodgenville Christian Church located at 100 West Main Street in Hodgenville. For more information call 270-696-0581.

Central KY Multiple Sclerosis

Family Council

The Sunrise Manor Family Council meets at 6 p.m. every fourth Thursday of the month in the second floor activity room at Sunrise Manor. All family and friends of current residents or of previous residents are invited to attend. The group has a primary goal of improving the quality of life for Sunrise family members. Free Flix Friday

The LaRue County Library will be showing Detective Pikachu (PG) at 2 p.m. on August 16. Pizza and bottled water will be provided.

Nature Night

The LaRue County Public Library will host the last Nature Night at 5 p.m. on August 20. Children will learn about snakes in a safe hands-on and interactive environmental education program for families. No registration required.

Intro to Spanish Classes

The LaRue County Public Library will host intro to Spanish classes taught by Alfredo Silva. The sessions begin at 6 p.m. on August 22 and 29, and September 5, 12, 19, and 26. Call the library to register.

Finding Bigfoot

Join us for stories and information about the elusive creature. Presented by Charlie Raymond, founder of the Kentucky Bigfoot Research organization. The event will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 31.

Adult Book Club

An adult book club meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. at the library. The club is currently reading, Three Cups of Tea for their meeting on August 15. The next books and dates are: September 19 – The Sister of Glass Ferry, and October 17 – After the Storm.

Where the Wild Books Are

A book club for Upper elementary and middle school students will meet at 5 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month. No pre-registration required.


The LaRue County Cro-Knitters will meet at the library on the third Tuesday of the month, starting at 5:30 p.m. Open to all skill levels No registration is required.

Stretch and Shine

The LaRue County Library will host a free low-impact exercise class for adults, which will consist of gentle stretching similar to chair yoga. Classes will be held at 10 a.m. every Monday.
