 Boyhood Home closed

The Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek, part of the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park is now closed due to construction. For more information, visit www.nps.gov/abli.


The Garden Club of Elizabethtown

The Garden Club of Elizabethtown will meet 9:30 a.m. to noon March 5 at the Brown Pusey House, 128 North Main, Elizabethtown. Andrea McWright, a club member and seller of organic fruit, will speak on “Growing and Maintaining Organic Fruit Trees.” Visitors are welcome. No reservations are required. Free income tax preparation

 Free assistance with income tax preparation is available from the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program. Electronic filing will be available free of charge. AARP membership is not required for assistance. Volunteers will assist taxpayers on a first-come, first-serve basis from noon to 4 p.m. through April 14 at the Greensburg Community Center, 110 N. 1st Street, Greensburg. Priority will be given to senior citizens. Some tax preparations such as farm income and clergy are out of scope and counselors are not trained to assist these taypayers. Vietnam Veterans to meet

Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1051, Gold Vault Patriots will meet at 2 p.m. March 8 (on the second Sunday of each month) at the Elizabethtown Police Department community room, 300 S. Mulberry St. Membership is open to all Vietnam and Vietnam era veterans (February 1961-May 1975).

Patriot Job Fair 

The Kentucky Career Center will host the Hire a Patriot Job Fair 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 12 at American Legion, Post 113, 1251 Ring Road, Elizabethtown. This job fair is tailored to veterans and military personnel; however, anyone seeking employment can attend. 

Veterans and family members of active duty personnel will be given preference from 10 to noon. From noon to 2 p.m. the job fair is open to everyone. For more information, contact Hector Cruz at hectora.cruz@ky.gov or 270-234-5810.

Wellness on Wheels

Hardin Memorial Hospital’s Wellness on Wheels mobile health unit will be available 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. March 16 at Hometown IGA. There is no charge for blood pressure, blood glucose, body mass index and weight. Cholesterol panel is $20. Fasting is recommended for accurate results. For more information, visit www.hmh.net.

Cancer Care sessions at HMH
